WEST HOLLYWOOD—In late September, a reception was held at legendary celebrity haunt Chateau Marmont, to honor the winners of the 2025 Booktique Awards. In its third year, the Los Angeles-based awards celebrate “illustrated nonfiction—also known as coffee table books—from a wide range of the world’s leading publishers.”
Categories included Art, Design, Fashion, Floral & Garden, Food & Drink, Home Interiors, Lifestyle, Nature, Our World, Performing Arts, Pets & Animals, Sports & Recreation and Travel Inspiration.
In the Pets & Animals category this year, pampered pooches and high-class hounds were spotlighted in Gray Malin: Dogs (Abrams Books). A New York Times best-selling author and art photographer, Malin’s fanciful shots of apparent doggy lotto winners in their ultra-luxurious surroundings give total FOMMO (feeling of mutts missing out). The aesthetic? Imagine if they let Wes Anderson produce the Westminster Dog Show.
From a pack lounging near Tower Bridge in London to purebreds on the slopes of Aspen, it just goes to show you who really is the master in these mansions. The book’s cover shot was taken poolside at local landmark, the Beverly Hills Hotel— which is, of course, a posh pet-friendly property that allows up to two dogs (up to 45 lbs.) with an extra room fee.
Is room service bringing the treats? Because we’re so here for that now.
