RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — Who’s feeling fat, dogs??? OMG if you ate too many table scraps at Thanksgiving or are already hitting the holiday cookies, it might be time to take a looong walk. You and your human can burn some of that extra pie crust with a hike at South Coast Botanic Gardens, located in Rancho Palos Verdes.
From November 30 through January 25, there will be three special Sundays when pups and their people can pay a small fee to stroll 87 acres of curated gardens (though some areas will be off limits). Guests will find potty bags and water stationed conveniently, and all dogs must be leashed and ready to mingle with the other mutts.
Get out for a big whiff of fresh ocean air and sniff around the flora and fauna in the Botanic Garden’s Living Wall area, Dorothy and Allen Lay Staghorn Fern Collection, Garden for the Senses, Desert Garden, Fuchsia Garden and Japanese Garden, and enjoy refreshments from Dottie’s concession station.
Time slots for the dog-walking tours start at 10:00 a.m. and are limited so advanced ticket purchase is required. Ticket prices are
- Adults — $18
- Students and seniors — $14
- Children (3-12 years) — $8
- Dogs — $5
- Toddlers (under 3-years) are free.
