World Series MVP Yamamoto Rescues New Dodger Dog Carlos

LOS ANGELES — 2025 World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto posted to his Instagram on Saturday, to introduce his new dog Carlos, who was reportedly rescued from the West Los Angeles shelter. Of course, the post went viral, with more than 720K likes.

Carlos, who is a large mixed breed, is one lucky dog, especially since Yamamoto signed a 12-year $325 million contract with the Dodgers in 2023. While the pitching star could have certainly had his pick of purebreds, it’s very awesome that he chose to rescue a dog in need. In a YouTube post, Carlos is pictured being carried by Yamamoto onto a private jet.

“I met him at a dog shelter last August, and the video is from the first time I saw him.

“He’s gentle and loves a slow life.
He loves naps, walks, and eating good food,” Yamamoto said in the Instagram caption.

Congratulations, Carlos! You hit the dog lottery. At Play today encourages shelter adoptions and fostering. Learn more here.
